The Mitti collective has time and again heralded regenerative methods of agriculture as a champion for the solution of world hunger for its robustness and versatility. But the global scene for the future of agriculture seems to say something else. The debate of meeting the growing food demand of the world's populations is often met with a technological solution while overlooking various social and cultural aspects of the global picture.
In episode 4 of 'The Mitti Podcast', we engaged in a conversation with Constantinos Pantelidis who strongly advocates the role of technology in agriculture. He mentions new-age developments like Agriculture 4.0 and precision agriculture, which bring about a promise for solving world hunger and preserving biodiversity. The conversation took us to a point where we could perceive how technology can cater to some aspects of sustainable agriculture, but rapid advancements in technology are not often possible without trade-offs that affect nature as we discussed in our article, "Lost in Supply Chain: Not Enough Food ?"
While only condemning advancements in technology is not a realistic solution, it can surely lead us to one question: is it possible to harmonize nature and technology for the benefit of nature?
